Dan Lavilette
Biography

Dan Lavilette brings over a decade of disaster recovery, response, and non-profit experience to EM By Design. Dan has extensive experience leading, coordinating, and supporting disaster and recovery responses across the United States and its territories. To name a few, he supported Tropical Storm Irene recovery, Hurricanes Sandy, Irma, and Maria, and multiple wildfires in the west.

 

In another professional role, Dan is a member of the national program team at the American Red Cross. He and his team work daily to manage and improve the organizations recovery programs. These programs are executed by community volunteers who provide disaster planning and financial recovery assistance to individuals and households for natural and manmade disasters in their communities and across the country.

 

In a previous role with the Red Cross, Dan served as a Program Manager for the Red Cross in Northern Vermont. There he led volunteer teams throughout Vermont and New Hampshire to support of disaster preparedness, response, and recovery. He also served as the primary liaison for local emergency management and regional planning. Dan helped many towns coordinate shelter plans and ensure their emergency operation plans were accurate.

 

Dan is passionate about volunteers and volunteerism in general. He has received multiple nominations for service awards including nominations for two values in action awards in 2022 and a nomination for the Presidential Volunteer Service Award in 2017.

 

Dan lives in south Florida with his wife, Aly and their dog, Lady. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time at the beach, fishing, cooking, and camping with family and friends.
